In the wake of what could possibly be the worst terrorist attack in the history of the world, it seems almost wrong to talk about something as banal as a movie star. And yet, this is exactly the type of thing we must do. Though the world will never forget September 11th, that day has passed, and we must be able to go on with our lives. Every one of us must still get up in the morning and go about our daily business. There are bills to pay, pets to feed, and movie stars to gossip about. Life moves pretty fast, and if you don't watch out, it might just pass you by. I mean, look at what happened to the Beastie Boys.

Reading the forums, I often see people talking about what Rachael can do to get recognized for the great actress that she is, or what could have been done to make movie X more popular. These people mention doing a teen flick, a comedy, something with big name stars, or just something for the mainstream public. They talk about how Rachael receives no praise from Hollywood and doesn't get the accolades she deserves.

Here's my theory, and see if it doesn't strike a chord.

Rachael doesn't want a big name or a big paycheck, those aren't her goals in life. She loves to act, and gets to do that as much as she wants. Is she hurting for work? I think not. I'm sure she turns down hundreds or even thousands of offers for every one she takes. Why did she choose to do Josie? Because it sounded like fun. Why did she choose to do Texas Rangers? Because she thought it might be new and different.

Rachael's not looking for fame and fortune, though they seem to have no trouble finding her. The existence of Ben's Sister Productions is a testament to her lack of financial troubles, and the existence of this very website is a testament to her fame. So John Q. Public doesn't know her name and probably wouldn't even recognize her face... so what? JQP can't tell a diamond from a hunk of glass, either. When it comes to fans, as in many things, it is quality, not quantity, that counts. Those who are enlightened must be patient with those who are still blind to the truth. ;)

I know that we all want Rachael to be recognized for her achievements, and not just by some fan sites on the web. We want her to have laurels and limos and little statues for her mantle. All that and more will come. In time. You don't get to be the next Katharine Hepburn overnight, after all.

And in the meantime, Rachael is having a wonderful time doing what she loves. Her fans are having a wonderful time watching her do it. So... where's the problem?

[Site Update]

Things are a little slow right now. I made some changes to the guestbook code about a week ago. The biggest change to that was fixing a bug in the date/time routine that would print, for example, 04:07 PM as 4:7 PM. That's not exactly the way most people write it. :)

In addition to that, I made some changes to the message board this past weekend. I mostly just cleaned up the HTML that the message board software outputs. The board looks much nicer now, or so I think. Tell me what you think of it.

I added the Tangled trailer to the media section this morning, and a link to the Tangled website to the links section. I also moved a few pictures around in the gallery. I have a few emails from people who have told me where some of the unsorted pictures belong. Trust me, I am not ignoring you, it just takes some time to get around to doing it. :)

That's about it for now. The month is almost over, is it just me or did it really fly by? At any rate, there will be a new poll up sometime next week. Look for it to be Josie related.

Today is a milestone in this site's short history. You see, this morning when I woke up I received an e-mail from our webhost telling us that they project we will exceed our allowed bandwidth by over three gigabytes.

For the time being, I had to take down the media section. I know, I know, you are all giving me the finger right now, but it will be back up as soon as we can afford to do so. Rather than dwell on the temporary loss of our media, I would rather look at this as a good thing.

I remember when we launched in early September. After over a month of developing the site, we were all excited when the counter hit 100 and when we had our first few registrations to the message board.

Since then, we have gotten to watch it grow, we've met some cool new people on the message board, and added lots more content; but the best part is we've had fun doing it.

Amazingly enough, this last week traffic to the site has doubled. Though I am sure it has more to do with AntiTrust's pending release and the content that we've added recently than my charming soapbox entries, or lack thereof.

Whether you look at this milestone as good or bad, we have come a long way so far, and we have a lot further to go. Enjoy the ride. :)

I was starting to think that MonicaKeena.com would never launch, but I'm glad to say that it finally has. If you haven't already seen it (new design and all) please take a moment to go check it out. Hopefully now I will have a bit more time for this site.

I am still trying to finalize plans for the fanclub; it will definitely be up before the end of the year. I am also planning a more extensive filmography with a lot more details on each film. I just reorganized the images section. It's still not perfect, but it is most definitely on track. Expect a few more additions to that section feature wise.

We have been open for a little less than two months now and things are doing very nicely. Overall I am very happy with the site's progress, staff, and visitors. However, we need to get more people involved on the message board.

Just as a reminder if you have any updates for the site such as articles, pictures, or media, then drop me a line. Thanks again for your support! :)

Well its taken some time but the site is finally finished. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Hel¿Atropos for the very cool design he did for us. I would also like to thank the rest of the staff for their help in organizing things and making them happen.

A few of the sections are still under construction and are being finalized. If you have an article, news, images, or media you'd like to share with the site drop me a line. Also, if you have an rlc site (or just know of a good one) and you'd like us to add a link to it, let me know.

Also, be sure to stop by the guestbook and leave your thoughts, as well as register at the message board. Have fun!
