Josie and the Pussycats stars Rachael Leigh Cook, Tara Reid, and Rosario Dawson let the cat out of the bag.
George Clooney's done it. So have Madonna and Halle Berry. Jim Carrey tried it, as did Drew Barrymore, Nicole Kidman and even Robert DeNiro.
Starring in the big-screen adaptation of a comic or cartoon has become a mandatory resume builder for many of Hollywood's A-listers. Now Rachael Leigh Cook (She's All That), Tara Reid (American Pie), and Rosario Dawson (Kids) are bringing to life everyone's favorite kitchy cats, Josie and the Pussycats.
Whether they're battling an evil record company or learning to deal with the trappings of fame, these fabulous felines have all the spunk of their predecessors, thanks to the very cool actresses playing them.
These ladies sure know how to let the cat out of the bag. And Tara Reid, Rosario Dawson and Rachael Leigh Cook chatted with seventeen.com about fur, fun and friendship.
How well do you think the movie captures the sprit of the cartoon?
Rosario Dawson (Valerie Brown): The premise is definitely there. The relationships between the girls, the town they grow up in. But we took it and made it very modern so a whole new generation of kids can get into it.
Rachael Leigh Cook (Josie McCoy): I'm worried about people feeling I'm true to who they want Josie to be. There's a huge fan base. People get really into it.
Did you watch the TV show when you were younger?
Rosario Dawson: I knew the cartoon. I grew up on it. I got such a kick out of seeing it come to life. Now my brother -- who's 16 -- is getting into it because they show reruns on Nick at Nite.
Tara Reid (Melody Valentine): No, I think I just missed it. All of my friends that are a little older than me were obsessed with it.
